Good news (for me anyways) I bowled my 3rd 300 game. All three at West End Lanes Brodheadsville PA. It was during practice, but on a freshly oiled pair with 3 per team, 3rd game. So in my mind, this counts, but not on paper of course. Shot a 734, 222,212,300. My high series ever is 736. In addition I finally found my shot at Blue Valley using a line further out than I've been accustomed to, straight down the 5 board going down/in. I usually play around the 8-10 board at West End Lanes. Making the adjustment only took 13 and 1/2 weeks with only 1 week to go. My average is 190 there, vs 212 at the house I usually bowl at. Blue Valley has lots of great bowlers, some that are averaging 230 to 240. This house hosts PBA regionals as well.
The moral of the story, is don't be afraid to try different lines when you are struggling at a different house until you figure it out. Being stubborn and trying to use the same shot has always been my biggest challenge to have to overcome. Making adjustments earlier on would have won more games, needless to say more $$.
Sorry haven't posted in a while. Got a new PBA Shark ball (elite bowling) and the ball does move.
(At least 2-3 boards left from using the Resurgence - I'm a stroker/down-in type player) I brought my average up to 213 on Mondays at my normal house.. But at another Bowling Center that we've tried this summer league, I'm only around 192. Different oil pattern, but honestly I still have to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong there, 11 weeks in with 4 to go.
I hope you all have had a nice summer and bowled well. Take care! :)
My 1st week at 2 summe leagues went as follows. 498, 522. If that doesn't stink more than an
upside down skunk on the side of the road, I don't know what does.
This week, 615, 671. Much better. My coach started me about a month ago going straight
at my corner pin spares (4,6,7,10) with a spare ball now breaking my wrist. I have not perfected it by far, but it's hopefully going to pay off in the long run.
Lanes seem to dry up before we had a chance to start up the last week off winter league.
(I know, no excuse)
Sunday, finished up with a 610 (ending the season at 196 avg.)
Monday, a 565 w high gm 221. Never adjusted quite right. (ended this league season at 199 avg.)
All n all, i've made a big jump in average from last summers 168. Lots more work to do over the summer. I'd like to get to the next level, whatever that is, hopefully
making it into the 200's, and will try and get some tournament experience.
